“ Service was very accommodating and friendly! Nice and relaxing atmosphere. Pretty crowded I thought for a Sunday evening. Good menu selection. The fritto misto was delicious! Server offered to make my entree without cream since I didn't want it too rich. It was perfect. Would definitely recommend and return to restaurant if in area again. ”
“ My husband and I went here for Valentine's Day because we were in the area on our honeymoon. Gilda's is a lounge and restaurant with very cozy seating, with an intimate but homey atmosphere. We had a reservation and were seated right away by friendly staff. We were given water and menus immediately. For our appetizers, we ordered the polpette and fritto misto. The polpette (aka meatballs) were quite literally the best meatballs I've ever tasted. They were big, tasty and cheesy. My husband said the fritto misto was delicious and perfectly crispy. For dinner, my husband ordered the tagliatelle with lobster and prawns and I ordered the braised short rib special. The tagliatelle had a wonderfully creamy and delicious sauce and the lobster and prawns were cooked perfectly. The short rib was beyond perfect, it fell apart with only a fork. It was served with vegetables and mashed potatoes with a fantastic sauce. For dessert, my husband ordered the tiramisu and I ordered the cannoli. The tiramisu was not too sweet and perfectly moist. The cannoli had a cream that wasn't too sweet with crunchy texture from the fried pastry and pistachios. Overall, the meal was delicious! The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The environment is clean, intimate and welcoming. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for quality Italian food and would come back when I have the opportunity. ”
“ A great find!! Food, service and ambiance were wonderful and delicious. The baked cheese came out hot and melted and a perfect topping for the bruschetta. I had the parpadelle with Maine lobster and wild prawns in a creamy tomato sauce while my husband had spaghetti and a huge meatball. Both were tasty. Topped it off with pear and walnut frangipane that was topped off with salted caramel ice cream! Taylor was a great server and tended to us well! We will definitely be back! ”
“ Our retirement community took a busload of 24 residents to Gilda's yesterday for lunch. Chef/owner Marco and server Taylor were ready for us with two long tables and their wonderful menu. The ambience with beautiful Tuscan murals was serene, and the food was outstanding! We look forward to returning soon. MH Soco ”
“ I just have to comment on the review from "Daniella"!who has written several *pages*, repeated her review three times, obsessed about it for *six years*, and the whole thing sounds like a total nightmare for*everyone* involved! Obviously, she and the waitress clashed as soon as they set eyes on each other (was one of them the other's partner's ex?? It sounded personal, and definitely seemed like Daniella was out to get the waitress fired! She was steaming! I usually give wait staff benefit of the doubt if they're offputting and remember that everyone has an awful day sometimes -- maybe her mom died or she lost an investment or her home -- who knows? But anyway, to Daniella, I apologize for the waitress, who maybe got mad and took it out on an extremely sensitive woman -- who knows? And to the waitress, I apologize for Daniella -- maybe she's just having a bad life? I hope everyone's feeling good today-- shake it off now! -- unfortunately, if the customer leaves them there, these Yelp reviews just last and last and last to affect the restaurant's score foreeeever.... Have a nice night! ”
“ During our trip to Portland Oregon in June, we visited a few classic spots. One of them was called Gilda's Italian Restaurant. From their website, it is stated that "for Grandma Gilda, food was love." Now, her legacy continues on, by her grandson Marco. We got to meet Chef Marco, he was extremely nice, welcoming, and really fun. We arrived just 10 minutes before they close between lunch and dinner. With that, the restaurant was empty, and we were worried that we were too late. But the server Stephen welcomed us with excitement. Thank you! Stephen was extremely friendly and talkative. He gave us recommendations on not only what to order, but what to see in Portland. He was simply awesome! The dish he recommended above everything else was Pappardelle "Alla Panna." To be honest, it didn't sound like much, not something I would've chosen over other really tasting sounding dishes. Guess what? It was super delicious! Every bite was heavenly. Creamy white sauce that I might say the best I've ever had. I could have a huge bowlful of this every day... We also wanted to try another dish, so we ordered Spaghetti with Grandma's Meatball & San Marzano Tomato Sauce. It comes with one HUGE meatball. The meatball was juicy and packed with flavor. Sauce was earthy and tomato-y. We enjoyed this dish a lot also. But if I have to choose between the two, I would have to say Pappardelle takes the center stage. To finish off, the server Stephen recommended us to try their house-made ice cream or sorbet. At this point, we had 100% trust in Stephen. LOL. We got Strawberry Mango Sorbet with his recommendation. It was refreshing, with such strong fruity flavor, as if you are eating the actual fruits. What a way to end the epic lunch! We had a fantastic lunch here. Stephen and Chef Marco made the experience extra fun. Food was excellent, we enjoyed every bite from the beginning to the end. I definitely recommend vising Gilda's if you are in Portland area. And If you don't know what to order, just ask Stephen for recommendations, and he will set you straight, and you will sure to have a great time! ”
“ Been meaning to try this place for the longest time and we finally did. The inside is so homey with many antiques and family photos - super adorable. It's a small family business with a rather small crew so I didn't feel like it was the most professional service but their food certainly made up for it! We started with the Frito Misto that was a large plate of some of the freshest scallops, squids, and prawns that I've ever had. Lightly battered and fried until crisp. I love the seasoning in the batter as well as the tartare sauce so much. A clear winner and must-order. We also split the Parpadelle Salsiccis and the Tortellini Panna. Both were huge but it's so hot and delicious we devoured them all. Their pasta was fresh so it's super tender. They also don't skimp on the meat and sauce at all. The Tortellinis were well-filled with cheese and the zucchini and sweet peas imparted a slight sweetness to the cream sauce; this was my favorite out of the two. We decided to try their desserts as well and got the special Bourbon Bread Pudding and Tiramisu. The Bread Pudding was massive and came with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. It's nice and custardy with a few apple chunks here and there but nothing too crazy. Similarly with the Tiramisu. I always enjoy this coffee dessert but certainly have had better elsewhere. While their desserts was so-so, their mains, again, were so good. This certainly will become a go-to spot for us. Plus, they have a lounge attached to the restaurant that you can order the full dinner menu from as well. Will definitely have to check that out! ”
“ It is about time that I update my review for what is still my favorite Italian restaurant in this area. Last night, 6 of us dined at Gilda's with the ever entertaining, efficient and enthusiastic Steve as our server! Steve is the best! He bantered effortlessly with us while simultaneously providing service that was just right! He not only made us feel welcome, he kept saying repeatedly that he didn't want us to leave! Awwww! The food was just superb from beginning to end. I have had incredible meals at Gilda's but this was the BEST! We started with an order of the always-yum arancini balls of melty, crunchy goodness. Steve recommended the garlic bread which I have never had. What a dream! Crispy-top focaccia served with a bowl of saucy tomatoes to spoon on top. One member of our party said she could have eaten it for dinner! And she is half Italian and just returned from Tuscany and Rome. The table shared two salads, one with crispy greens, pear , candied nuts and bleu cheese, and the other was layered fresh mozzarella, eggplant and arugula. I had a small bit of the greens and it was great. Everyone raved about the other. Around the table was rigatoni, the seafood spaghetti and wild boar pappardelle and the veggie special. I had the veggie which was spaghetti with broccoli rabe, mushrooms and grape tomatoes in a white wine sauce. Ai yai yai, so good. I was afraid it might be bland. Fugetaboudit!! Plenty of flavor, perfectly prepared veggies, pasta pleasantly al dente with a generous pile of fresh parm on top. We all got desserts. The biggest hits were the tiramisu which I have had many times and am never disappointed. My husband ordered the mango tart special which he savored and didn't offer anyone a bite! We were seated in a cozy nook we had all to ourselves. The owner dropped by and we all raved about our whole experience. A super time was had by all -- except for the pain afterwards from overstuffed tummies. Blame it on Steve. We didn't want to leave either. ”
“ Really great hidden gem. One tip we heard be sure to check the schedule at the stadium near by. You won't be able to park on those nights. Oh and it's pronounced with a J sound. Like saying Jill but putting ilda at the end. Now the experience. Friendly waiter, bus boy was like 14 or something and was trying so hard and was learning. Grandson of Gilda is in the kitchen. When there are family pictures around you have to ask who was Gilda. Wonderful they have reservations and super easy to park on a weeknight with no game. The menu had so many good sounding authentic Italian items. Had the wild boar appetizer and also the pasta with wild boar. Both were amazing and rich flavor. We also got dessert and it was a generous chocolate cake and I even took some home as I had filled up on the wild boar. Look forward to coming back. ”
